Town of Highland to debate "anti-Fracking" local law #3 May 4, 2012

April 29th, 2012

Notification of a public meeting this May 4th, 2012 by the Town of Highland to discuss Local Law #3 which is concerned with zoning amendments against oil & gas drilling ("Fracking") in the area of the town.

Clearly anyone interested in this should seek to attend if possible. Details of Local Law #3 is available on the website and some have suggested sending the email below to the Town to express your support for the amendments. Note you would need to change the text in [] as appropriate;

The Pyne Ayre Homeowners Association believe that preservation and protection of the unique habitat in the Upper Delaware Recreation Area is fundamental to its enjoyment by residents and visitors and therefore urge that residents consider the proposed amendments in local law #3 in order to make an informed decision.

A separate posting will contain the text of the proposed Local Law #3 on this weblog.

----

Dear Town Board of the Town of Highland:

Our names are [X] and Beau [Y], residing at [ADDRESS] and we are residents and taxpayers in the Town of Highland.

We urge the Town Board to adopt Town Law 3 of 2012 to prohibit oil and gas drilling and other heavy industry in the Town of Highland. The Town Board has an obligation to protect the health, safety and welfare of all town residents. that means protecting our air, water, roads, rural environment and the value of our property.

We believe our health and safety and our property values are threatened by gas drilling and other heavy industry. We are counting on the Town Board to act in the interest of the majority of town residents, who will be harmed if gas drilling is allowed in our town.

Thank you for your careful consideration of this matter.

[NAMES]
